Perry Lake 2017

Posted by director on April 9, 2017

Perry Lake has always been difficult in the spring when the rains fill the creeks and raises the water level in area lakes.  This year was no exception and Kansas Team Trail anglers reported plenty of bites in the previous weeks leading up to April 8th.  The water was still climbing the day before the tournament, forcing us to move the launch and weigh-in site to Rock Creek Marina.  10 feet higher than pool level, the weather warming and the wind was gusting 20, this making Perry extremely difficult to fish.  KTT anglers did catch fish despite the challenging conditions, but with a field of 20 teams only bringing in 9 fish at the weigh-in, Perry was more than difficult for several.

Team Shepherd and Spruill 2017

Danny Shepherd and Chris Spruill weighed 4 bass for 9.58 lbs.  They took home a total prize package of $2,810.  This included a Ranger Cup Award of $250, $1000 Discount on a new fiberglass boat at Cabelas of KC, $200 off labor at Cabelas Boat Shop, 2 casting combos courtesy of Cabelas and a check for $1000.

Lebarr 2017 Perry

Second place went to the team of Derek Lebarr and CW Buoy for weighing in the biggest bass of the day, 3.69 lb smallmouth.  They cashed a second place check of $400 and an additional big bass package totaling $380.

Third Place went to Gale and Darrell Brown for catching a 3.40 lb smallmouth and taking home a check for $200.

Fourth place, Danny and Jake Smith, didn't go home empty handed either with a 3.26 lb smallmouth cashing a $200 check as well.

Next stop is El Dorado Lake May 13th.  The spawn is nearing and these fish will definitely be moving up shallow.  We are expecting to see big weights and plenty of fish at the scales.
