Doug Smith and Tyler Nekolny Reign as Team Of the Year!

Posted by director on September 13, 2015

Perry Lake certainly didn't disappoint this past weekend as our anglers descended upon this beautiful lake just north of Topeka, Kansas.  Hosted by the Perry State Park, managed by Ranger Michelle Campbell, Perry is thriving with big Kansas Blackbass.  There were 54 healthy bass brought to the scales pushing over 166.91 lbs including a 7 lb Largemouth caught by the Benjamin team.  But the story belonged to Doug Smith and Tyler Nekolny once again as they won their second KTT event of the year.  Doug and Tyler worked hard this year bringing into the scales a total of 18 bass weighing 48.52 lbs, winning two of our 5 regular season tournaments.  With their best four tournaments, they amassed 782 points to take the TOY title.  Their final tournament at Perry was equally impressive with a 5 bass limit totaling 17.82 lbs anchored by a solid largemouth weighing 6.08 lbs.  Their Perry Lake win netted them a total purse valued at $3,050.00 as well as bringing home the title.  TOY will be allowed to fish all of the 2016 regular season events for free.  Congratulations to all our teams who worked hard all year.  These are truly the best anglers and sportsmen the state of Kansas has to offer.

Second Place, Lance Maldonado and Bryan Lindsley, brought in 13.50 lbs for a check totaling $525.00.

Third Place, Josh and Gale Brown, weighed 13.46 lbs for $230.00.

Fourth Place, Jason Baird and Chris Scherbring, weighed 12.74 lbs for $150.00.

The Biggest Bass of the day caught by Jason and Jerry Benjamin toppled the scales at 7.00 lbs and cashed them a $240.00 prize.

2016 Schedule Is Set!

Posted by director on August 20, 2015

The 2016 Kansas Team Trail schedule is now posted.  Registration will open shortly after the Perry Lake tournament.  There will be some rule updates, so be sure to review the rules section prior to the first tournament of 2016. An example of some of the changes for 2016: We will move up the deadline for entry for each tournament to the Monday immediately prior to the tournament.  Entries after this deadline will be assessed a$25.00 late fee.  This is critical for planning the event and ensuring there is adequate space, safety arrangements, parking, food/services and allowing time for our sponsors to plan for any promotional opportunities.  Thank you all for a great 2015 season.  Hope to see you all return for 2016.  Kansas Team Trail
